Skate Tutorial Tutorial #1 - VR Skateboarding
Shoot, Edit & Publish a Video With Your Vyu360 Camera ( Show ↓/ Hide ↑ )

Activ 360 Camera

If you are a skateboard enthusiast or just a beginner and would like to start recording your experiences in VR. The Vyu360 camera is the perfect tool for you to start having fun with it. The Vyu360 camera offers great resolution, overall quality and includes all accessories and action mounts necessary to get you started.

Today we are going to cover few basics on how to shoot , do some editing and publish a video. On your right side, you see an example of a video that has been published by Extreme Videos VR on youtube.

To shoot a similar video you will need a Vyu360 Activ camera, action mounts , a drone and few software plugins for post production.

Our recommendation is for you to learn basic tips listed below on how to operate the camera before you take on complex projects. To render a good quality video of your experience, it is very important to adjust settings accordingly to the lighting and color ambiance of your surroundings.

SHOOTING TIPS:

Remember to pack your camera and to charge your battery. Battery on a full charge should last 1 hour and 20 minutes. (Note: this might vary according to your weather conditions. Cold weather tends to reduce your battery life substantially.) Always bring your provided protective micro fiber pouch to preserve your camera. Use provided rubber secure locks on all mounts before attaching the camera.

When you are ready to start shooting remember that it is best to keep the camera orientation steady. This will result in better playback experience. Remember the camera is capturing all surroundings at once. Decide the height for your shooting orientation. (Note: we don’t refer to a shooting angle as we would do for traditional cameras as 360 cameras shoot a multitude of angles at the same time ). Make sure your merging edges, where the front and rear field of view join, are oriented away from your main subjects . Some parts along the merging edges are blended and can result in subjects being cut out or distorted.

After you shoot you can either share footage directly from your smartphone or you can download on a computer for post-production. Some tips on how to share from a smartphone can be found below.

TIPS FOR MOUNTING CAMERA ON A DRONE:

Where possible, attach the camera on top of the drone, it may vary on each type of drone. Make sure the camera is attached firmly to the drone. For best results, test balance so that the drone will not shake excessively.

TIPS FOR POST-PRODUCTION:

Before you begin, download your footage from your camera using a USB cable or directly with a Micro SD reader onto your computer. You can convert and compile footage to equirectangular format with our Desktop APP or use a third party software.
The benefits of using third party software is that you can adjust to your preferences, trimming and stitching. The benefit of using our Desktop APP is that it is faster.
